Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 7/22/17
Song Lyric Sunday Theme for 7/16/17
From one of my favorite sleeper movies, DUETS!! The movie didn’t do well at the box office but I found it delightful and enjoyed the musical surprises from actors I didn’t know could sing!! (And a singer I didn’t know could act.)
Cruise
Baby let’s cruise, away from here
Don’t be confused, the way is clear
And if you want it you got it forever
This is not a one night stand
Let the music take your mind
Ooh just release and you will find
You’re gonna fly away, glad your goin’ my way
I love it when we’re cruising together
The music is played for love,
Cruising is made for love
I love it when we’re cruising together
Baby tonight belongs to us
Everything’s right, do what you must
And inch by inch we get closer and closer
To every little part of each other
Let the music take your mind
Just release and you will find
You’re gonna fly away, glad your goin’ my way
I love it when we’re cruising together
Music is played for love,
Cruising is made for love
I love it when we’re cruising together
Cruise with me baby
Cruise with me baby
So good
Baby lets cruise
Lets float, lets glide
Ooh lets open up and go inside
And if you want it you got it forever
I can just stay there inside you
And love you baby,
Let the music take your mind
Just release and you will find
You’re gonna fly away, glad your goin’ my way
I love it when we’re cruising together
Music is played for love,
Cruising is made for love
I love it when we’re cruising together
You’re gonna fly away, glad your goin’ my way
I love it when we’re cruising together
Music is played for love,
Cruising is made for love
I love it when we’re cruising together
You’re gonna fly away, glad your goin’ my way
I love it when we’re cruising together
The music is played for love,
Cruising is made for love
I love it when we’re cruising together
You’re gonna fly away, glad your goin’ my way
I love it when we’re cruising together
Music is played for love,
Cruising is made for love
I love it when we’re cruising together

And if that doesn’t blow your mind, try this unexpected combo!!
Friend
I have none. I am so content to “bloom where I am planted”, a lesson learned early from my father. It has served me so well throughout my life…I am never bored and there is never nothing to see or do wherever I am!
I say that, but also have to confess, I “live” in several different places: a suburb of Seattle, in the mountains outside Spokane, in the San Juan Islands, San Diego, and in my car…no, not that way, but I do love a road trip with car-camping involved.
Even in my own 100 year old house (which people call a maze due to all the weird rooms and additions over the years), I get the bug to travel, to “live” in other parts of it. After 43 years here, I have lived in every square inch of it. There are 5 or 6 bedrooms (depending on how you define the space), 2 or 3 living rooms (again depending), 3 bathrooms, laundry room, 2 and 1/2 kitchens, a large bonus room, a huge deck, a patio with table and chairs for outside dining, Oh, and a fruit tree orchard! (apples, cherries, pears, and plums!)
Back to Wanderlust, I have been recently bit by the Road Trip bug. In August of this year we will travel down the West coast, then across the Southern States until we reach Mississippi. I lived there with family for a few years when I was younger and James grew up there. We met in high school in Natchez.
It’s time for a “Roots” trip so we are taking my son and grandsons on a road trip adventure, to Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. We’ll travel in style for most of it in a spectacular RV. And we will get to see wonderful friends and relatives we never get to hang out with, including a wonderful new Blogging Friend!
The slideshow is of some of the places in Mississippi I want to share with my grandsons!
Can’t wait!
I guess this is Wanderlust!!!
Well, for SOME people it is anyway.
Our challenge this week is to capture GREEN.
EASY! Just go to the center of San Juan Island to Wild Bird Bamboo (http://www.wildbirdbamboo.com/)
My “sister” and her husband both have the greenest thumbs I have ever seen.
If you want to be green, just become a plant almost anywhere on their land and you will shout GREEN across the treetops! Lenore is so talented with her fruits and veggies, I think she needs only to wave her thumb over the ground and things start popping up GREEN!!
And John grows beautiful ornamental bamboo like crazy!!
Even their pond is GREEN!
Their magical GREEN thumbs work inside the house too. They just can’t help themselves.
Don’t even get me started on their Green House, a whole separate story!!
And the best part of all? Here are just SOME of the results of all that GREEN!!!
They make it look so EASY!!
This post is dedicated to our wonderful John and Lenore, in honor of your friendship, your GREEN talent and your generosity all these years of sharing your Island Paradise with us.
Crank up the volume and ignore the gender specific words. This is a universal song of support and healing!
Sister by Cris Williamson
Born of the earth, Child of God…just one among the family.
And you can count on me to share the load, and I will always help you
hold your burdens and I will be the one to help you ease your pain.
Lean on me I am your sister; believe on me, I am your friend.
Lean on me I am your sister; believe on me, I am your friend.
Lean on me I am your sister; believe on me, I am your friend.
I will fold you in my arms like a white wing dove…
Shine in your soul , your spirit is crying…spirit is crying.
Born of the earth, Child of God…just one among the family.
And you can count on me to share the load,
and I will always help you hold your burdens and I will be the one to help
you ease your pain.
Lean on me I am your sister; believe on me, I am your friend.
Lean on me I am your sister; believe on me, I am your friend.
Lean on me I am your sister; believe on me, I am your friend.

I had the delightful experience during the holidays recently of feeling like I had become good enough friends with several fellow bloggers to send them trinkets for Christmas (or whatever)!
But I feel incomplete. I still have THREE more to send.
One blogger is deciding whether or not I am a stalker. Here is her gift.
Another person knows for sure I am stalking him but doesn’t seem to mind that much. Unfortunately, he is too far away to mail something to. I’ll just hold onto his gift until he visits us stateside. Or maybe I’ll just wear these in his honor!
And lastly, my most amazing new connection is in the middle of a huge move (after a life time of moving, maybe one of her LAST!) and I am hoping to hand deliver her tiny gift later this year when we will be vacationing practically next door to where she has moved!
I know this is an obscure post with seemingly secret references but think of it as a mystery! I bet if you ever read my comments, you can guess who these three new friends are.
As for the three who already received their tiny gifts (Blair, Marilyn and Lisa) thank you again for trusting me with your land addresses. I love these newly forming friendships.
My friend Karuna was right. The Blogging Community is truly special! I’m loving it!!
Cyber hugs,
Kathie
PS If you recognize your gift, let me know in a comment!
That’s just the guest house. The actual house James built almost 40 years ago is amazing. Talk about nestled into the land.
Hmm, another post brewing……..
So here is that brewed up response:
Before and after shots of our beloved Casa Esmeralda
Then, THIS happened! (view looking up from the Guest House)
I really wanted to retain the Porch Swing, our favorite wildlife viewing spot.
This end of the house is still a work in process but you can see the low windows the Turkeys visit for their vanity checks. My Grandsons are helping me create a rock garden with stones and shells from the beaches of the San Juan Islands!
The inside of the addition is not finished yet but is almost done outside, (still have to complete the upper deck….oh, and shore up the mine-shaft terraced gardens out in front of the house.)
So Marilyn and JoAnne and Ed, and Karuna, Linda, and Lisa and husband and whomever else is interested…make your reservation soon! (smiley face…winking face…hearts…geez, I really have to get some emojis!!)
For my James….
a second version…for all us aging Rockers!!!

I did a post for the WP challenge “Repurpose” to show how James had taken a really rough building and turned it into our “Bed and No Breakfast”, our Guest House.
You can read that post here:
This is one of the comments I received:
I also love your house. I don’t want to sound envious, but it’s perfect for the setting and I love the way it fits into the land, like a nest.
