Cry me a river is said sarcastically to someone whose whining, complaints, or tears fall on unsympathetic ears, but Joan Baez seems very sincere.
No I think the sarcasm is still there. I read somewhere years ago she was singing this to Bob Dylan (along with Diamonds and Rust) but who knows if that was true! This is definitely a poignant, sincere version of the song though.

One of my favorites! Joan Baez does a good job, but I think my all time favorite version is done by Natalie Cole on her Take A Look album.

I’d never heard this song, before. She does a great job of singing it. I haven’t listened to much from Joan Baez, but this sounds very different from her Folk type songs. Nice.
