Song Lyric Sunday 7-9-17 MAGIC!

This is a short version of their famous song but it is so great to see them back then!! (They lived right around the corner from me and I fell in love with them watching folksy performances on our tiny local morning tv show.)

Their voices were MAGIC!! I just KNEW they would make it big!

Magic Man
Cold, late night so long ago
When I was not so strong you know
A pretty man came to me
Never seen eyes so blue
You know, I could not run away it seemed
We’d seen each other in a dream
Seemed like he knew me, he looked right through me, yeah
“Come on home, girl” he said with a smile
“you don’t have to love me yet, let’s get high awhile
But try to understand, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand, I’m a magic man”
Winter nights we sang in tune
Played inside the months of moon
“Never think of never, let this spell last forever”
Well, summer lover passed to fall
Tried to realize it all
Mama says she’s worried..growing up in a hurry
“Come on home, girl” Mama cried on the phone
“Too soon to lose my baby yet, my girl should be at home”
But try to understand, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand, he’s a magic man, Mama, ah, he’s a magic man
“Come on home, girl” he said with a smile
“I cast my spell of love on you, a woman from a child”
But try to understand, try to understand
Oh, oh, try, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand
He’s a magic man, oh, he’s got the magic hands
OoooOooo’s over top
“Come on home, girl” he said with a smile
“You don’t have to love me yet, let’s get high awhile”
But try to understand, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand, he’s a magic man, yeah, oh

Heart is not just a folk singing duo turned rock stars or just a Led Zeppelin cover band. They are consummate musicians!!!

If you are too young to actually know Heart, listen to Sylvan song (Song of the Archer) next…ALL the way through and cranked up loud, preferably with eyes closed!!

Spectacular performance! Talk about MAGIC!!

PS And a tiny story for more MAGIC!! One of the highlights of my musical life…

picture this…

a huge local County Fair Concert by Bonnie Raitt and Bonnie invites audience member Ann Wilson up on stage to sing Angel From Montgomery with her!! Holy voice magic, Batman.

Thought a blog might help me develop better writing habits so I could finally finish my book, 16 years in the writing, but so far it's mostly photos and FUN!

  1. Ooooh, this was perfect – this was my hubby’s pick for the week as well. I told him he should comment or something because I’d already posted my pick for the week, but he’s too shy, haha. I loved hearing about the Bonnie Raitt concert, so exciting! Thanks so much for sharing!!

  2. I think I’m now at the point of “out of touch” with music that happened after the 1970s, I’m ready to admit — no idea. It’s like lying about literature. Time for truth. I have NO idea what’s going on musically.

  3. OMG, I LOVE Heart, Ann and Nancy are amazing! Their voices, their musical talents, writing–incredible! How cool you lived near them! I’ve sung a few of their songs in karaoke bars, hard to match Ann’s vocal power! Have you read their autobiography, “Kicking & Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul, and Rock and Roll?” i recommend it if you haven’t. 🙂

    1. Read it and LOVED it! They have sure overcome some obstacles. I haven’t been able to see them live in quite a while but hope to before it’s too late! Thanks for your comment!
