Daily Prompt: Silence

Silence
via Daily Prompt: Silence

I am a new-ish blogger and Daily Prompt Virgin so be gentle with me…

I had an instant reaction to this word SILENCE but thought I should check out some of the other posts to see if my idea would fit. I scrolled through 50 or more, looking at their titles, picked one to view at random (well, maybe the words Cats, Dogs, Teeth and Claws grabbed my attention). They had written a great post and also had the same idea as me.

Now I want to count up how many other people posted the Disturbed version of

“Sounds of Silence”?

If you haven’t watched/heard it, crank up your volume, give yourself 5 minutes (or 10, because it is really better to listen the first time with eyes closed).

I’m 68. My son is 44 and he made me sit and listen to this song with him. I judged…harshly at first, but as I sat there, waiting it out, thinking to lecture about trashing one of the anthems of my generation, I got it. I was deeply moved. We both ended up in tears and holding hands!

Talk about a generation bridging song!

Silence, my ass!

Thought a blog might help me develop better writing habits so I could finally finish my book, 16 years in the writing, but so far it's mostly photos and FUN!

  1. Wow, this version of Sounds of Silence takes me breath away. Such a powerful rendition of this generation bridging song. I’m 66, my son is soon to be 25. He loves this song. I will share this version with him. Thank you for posting this.

  2. It is a very beautiful song. Powerful and strong vocals. It’s taken about 20 years but I’ve been able to finally get my Mum(67) onboard to appreciate a little known band(joke) called Nine Inch Nails. In 2014, my mum, saw them for the first time. My sister (28) the second time and myself(43) the third time. You might like to try the sound tracks he has done. I’m sure your son can help with that. Enjoy.

    1. I’ll have to check them out more…only know a couple of their biggest hits and admittedly was turned off (freaked out) by some of their videos!

Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate them. And how cool to share music with your family like that!!! I love it!! Say hi to your Mum!
